Location
Helmsdale is an ideal stopping off point on the A9 if you are travelling between Inverness (70 miles) and John o'Groats (52 miles). It is on the main Land's End to John o'Groats route which is popular with cyclists and walkers. The hostel is also convenient if you are travelling to Orkney.

Important Information
Guests arriving by car:
From 15 July 2024, there will no longer be direct access to Helmsdale Lodge Hostel from the A9 junction at Stafford Street / Old Caithness Road, since Old Caithness Road is becoming one-way. There will be signs North and South on the A9 and adjacent streets that will direct you to the hostel on Old Caithness Road where you will still be able to park. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause you – please contact should you require any further assistance in locating us – thank you for your understanding.
Arriving by bus:
Walk up the road for 100 metres. The lodge is at the top of the road on your left. CityLink bus service
Arriving by train:
Cross over the old bridge, turn right along Dunrobin Street, then left up up Stafford Street. The lodge is at the top of the road on your left.
